Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Officers Respond Quickly to B&E Call and Make Arrest After Foot Pursuit in Brighton


At about 5:40 PM on Saturday December 12, 2015, officers assigned to District D-14 (Brighton) responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in the area of 21 Chester Street in Allston.  A male suspect dressed in dark clothing, wearing gloves and carrying a backpack had been observed lingering in the alleyway behind an apartment building for several minutes while behaving in a suspicious manner.  The suspect then approached a first floor window of the building, forced it open and climbed inside.  Officers quickly arrived on scene and observed a suspect matching the given description standing in the rear alley of the location.  The suspect immediately ran upon seeing the officers and a brief foot pursuit ensued.   Officers were able to catch up to the fleeing suspect and place him in custody without incident in the area of 28 Chester Street.  Officers recovered several belongings from inside the backpack the suspect had been wearing which were later determined to have been taken from inside the apartment building.  Officers were later able to return the stolen property to the rightful owners.  The suspect, Antony McLean 34, of Roslindale, will appear in Brighton District Court on charges of Breaking and Entering, Receiving Stolen Property and Common and Notorious Thief.
