One Less Gun: Officers Arrest Four, Recover Two Firearms During Two Related Incidents in Dorchester

INCIDENT #1:  At about 4:30 PM on Tuesday December 15, 2015, officers assigned to the District B-3 (Mattapan) Drug Control Unit made two arrests while recovering a firearm in the area of 7 Morse Street in Dorchester.  The officers were in the area on an unrelated drug investigation when they observed two men, later identified as Richie Williams, 23, of Dorchester and Keyarn Richardson, 28, of Randolph, exit a motor vehicle and begin walking quickly on Morse Street towards Washington Street.  Richardson then produced a firearm from his waist band area, pulled back the slide to chamber a round of ammunition and handed it to Williams.  The officers then heard the sound of gunfire and observed the two suspects reverse direction, now running back towards them, with Williams pointing the gun directly at one of the officers.  The two suspects again changed direction and a foot pursuit ensued.  Officers were able to catch up to Williams in the area of 9 Brinsley Street where they took him into custody without incident.  Officers recovered a .45 caliber firearm that the suspect had thrown into the front yard of the address as they caught up to him.  Officers later located Richardson at the Carney Hospital suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.  After receiving medical attention, Richardson was taken into custody and transported for booking.

Williams has been charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling.  Richardson has been charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.   Both men were arraigned at Dorchester District Court on Wednesday December 16, 2015.
