On Friday, December 18, 2015, Commissioner William Evans promoted three sergeants to the rank of sergeant detective during a ceremony held at Boston Police Headquarters. Family, friends and coworkers were in attendance as the gentlemen were each given their new badges.
The newly promoted sergeant detectives found themselves on the receiving end of a humorous observation made by the commissioner when he stated, “You know? I think this is the first time I’ve promoted three people without any hair at all on their heads…” As the polite laughter in the room began to quiet down, the commissioner added, “In all seriousness though, with all the tough things that we come across out on the streets, all the stress we deal with and the challenges you’re going to face in your new assignments – it’s nice when we can get together and share a laugh - especially on a big day like this for you and your families. I'm proud of all of you and nobody appreciates the work you do more than me. Congratulations to each one of you.”
Congratulations from all of us at the Boston Police Department and best of luck as you enter the next stage of your careers.
