Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Quick Response Enables BPD Officers to Apprehend B&E Suspect Attempting to Make Good His Escape

At about 11:02AM, on Monday, December 28, 2015, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to a call for a person (described as a black male wearing black clothes with a red backpack) breaking into an apartment in the area of 505 Beacon Street.

According to the victim, the suspect was seen on the 2nd floor of the building trying and turning doorknobs on several apartment doors. While en route to the call, officers observed an individual matching the description of the suspect walking away from the location in the direction of the Mass Ave Bridge. Given the individual’s similarities to the suspect, officers approached the suspect to further investigate his potential connection to the crime. While officers were talking to the individual, the victim was brought to the scene to positively identify the suspect. Upon seeing the individual being detained, the victim stated, “That’s him.”

While inspecting the apartment building at 505 Beacon Street, officers observed damage to the front door of the location consistent with damage caused by a prying tool or crow bar. Specifically, officers observed splintered wood around the door's locking/latching mechanism along with white paint chips and flakes on the floor in and around the door. A search of the suspect and his backpack enabled officers to see and seize a 15 inch pry bar, assorted jewelry, a woman’s watch and several jewelry boxes.

Officers arrested Danavian Daniel, 23, of Boston and charged him with Breaking & Entering and Possession of Burglarious Tools. As the investigation continues and the suspect’s connection to other incidents in the area is examined, additional charges could be pending.
