Keeping Boston Safe: Drug Trafficker Arrested, Drugs Recovered in Jamaica Plain

At about 10:30 PM on Sunday, February 22, 2015, officers from District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for an emotionally disturbed person in the area of 15 Dunster Road.

Upon arrival, officers observed a large, agitated male ranting and yelling. When the officers attempted to speak with him, the male became increasingly disturbed. The subject then reached into his backpack and began throwing US paper currency in the air while claiming that there was $100,000 in his backpack and he was a big time drug dealer. Officers attempted to subdue the subject, however, the 6’3”, 270 pound male ignored the officers’ orders and an intense struggle ensued.

Once the male was finally restrained and transported by EMS to an area hospital, his belongings were secured and brought back to the District E-13 station. While conducting an inventory of the subject’s backpack, officers discovered packages containing approximately half a kilogram of Xanax tablets, approximately 65 grams of a substance believed to be heroin, and over $34,000 in US currency.

The male, 43-year-old Angelos Karagelidis of Dedham, was charged with Trafficking Class A Substance (Heroin), Trafficking Class B Substance (Xanax), and Resisting Arrest.
