Cops and Kids Do their Share of Listening & Learning during Youth Police Dialogue Series

Cops and Kids Do their Share of Listening & Learning during Youth Police Dialogue Series: Tonight, Wednesday, February 25, 2014, in the latest edition of the Youth Police Dialogue series, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force sat down with kids from the Teen Empowerment Center.  During tonight’s discussion, mutual respect took center stage as the cops and kids shared ideas about improving and enhancing the relationship that exists between the kids and the officers sworn to protect and serve them. Said one of the officers attending tonight’s discussion: “I love these discussions with the young people in our community. The conversations are genuine and real and, at the end of the day, we get a chance to better understand the kids and the issues impacting them and, hopefully, they get a chance to better understand that we’re here to help them and answer any questions they may have about how we do our jobs. But, without a doubt, the time we spend interacting with our city’s young people is time well spent.”
