Commissioner William Evans Commends the Men & Women of the BPD for Exceptional Work over the Past Ten Days

Good afternoon,

It has been a long 10 days!

Starting with a blizzard and record snow totals over the last week, our officers have been out on the streets protecting and serving our citizens despite hazardous weather conditions. Our officers helped numerous people in often dangerous and dire situations.  Some of their work involved providing transportation to medical personnel, manning traffic posts and performing well-being checks on some of our more elderly community members.

On the heels of the blizzard, came the New England Patriots and their appearance in Super Bowl XLIX. I would like to thank the entire BPD team – both uniformed and civilian - who worked Super Bowl Sunday. I appreciate the sacrifice you made to be away from family on a day where so many others were able to be at home with theirs. The evening went great, with no problems or arrests, again under difficult weather conditions.

I would also like to say what a great job our officers did today at the New England Patriots Victory Parade.  Again, our officers provided safety and security for those participating in and enjoying the event. They looked great out there and made me proud.

Like the New England Patriots, the BPD team ‘did their job’! Our officers represented the City of Boston and the Boston Police Department with pride and professionalism in a manner that helped the city and Patriot Nation celebrate the team’s victory safely.

Thank you,

William B. Evans

Police Commissioner
