Would you like to become a Boston police officer? Here are some things you need to know about the Mass State Civil Service Exam:
*The examination date is April 25, 2015.
*The fee for the exam is $100.
*Application for the exam must be made online only at www.mass.gov/civilservice.
*Applications are due March 13,2015. There is an additional $50 late fee for applications received after this date. Applications will NOT be accepted after March 26, 2015.
*In order to be an eligible candidate for Boston you must has established residency in the City of Boston one year prior to the exam.
§ Residency is defined as:
- Established utilities bill in your name.
- Registered voter in the City of Boston.
- Registered vehicle in the City of Boston.
- *Note: A college dormitory does not qualify as a residence.
*You must be at least 21 years of age and no more than 38 years of age at the date of the examination. However, if you are a qualified veteran, either active or released from the military, you may add up to a maximum of four years of service time to your age and still be eligible for appointment.
*You must be a US citizen.
*You must pass a state administered physical ability test prior to a conditional offer of employment from the Boston Police Department. (For more information on the PAT go to www.mass.gov/civilservice.)
*You must have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate approved by the Mass Dept. of Education, or three years’ experience in the armed forces of the United States with your last release or discharge under honorable conditions.
