One Less Gun: Youth Violence Strike Force Executes Warrants and Recovers Firearm

At about 2:40 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2015, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force executed two search warrants in the area of 945 Hyde Park Avenue in District E-18 (Hyde Park).

Upon locating the target of the first search warrant, the officers observed him operating a vehicle with a revoked driver’s license. Officers stopped the vehicle, executed the search warrant for the target’s person, and recovered several hundred dollars, two plastic bags containing heroin, and keys to the target’s residence.

Officers retrieved the keys and executed the second search warrant for the target’s residence. Officers recovered the following: 

  • A loaded .40 caliber Glock 23 firearm
  • Additional .40 caliber ammunition
  • Approximately 14 grams of heroin
  • Various drug paraphernalia

The target, a 30-year-old Hyde Park man, was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A (Heroin), Trafficking Class A (14-27 grams), Operating a Motor Vehicle after Revocation, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
