Making a Difference: Open Mic Night Presented by Teen Empowerment

This weekend on Friday, March 13, 2015, officers from the Boston Police Department Command Staff, Youth Violence Strike Force, and Community Service offices from various districts attended Teen and Community Open Mic Night in Jamaica Plain. The event was presented by Teen Empowerment, a local youth group whose goal is to encourage unity and dialog within Boston communities.

Many talented teens and a number of BPD officers performed spoken word, rapped, sang, and danced the evening away to a packed house at Spontaneous Celebrations (45 Danforth Street, JP). The event was a perfect opportunity for teens and officers alike to showcase their talents.
