One Less Gun: BPD Officers Recover 113th Firearm in 2015

At about 12:50 PM on Monday, March 23, 2015, members of the District E-18 (Hyde Park) Drug Control Unit conducted a drug investigation resulting in two arrests and a firearm recovery in the area of River and Arlington Streets in Hyde Park.

After extensive surveillance on multiple motor vehicles, officers developed probable cause that the occupants were selling, buying, and using illegal narcotics. The officers arrested 29-year-old Antonio Capano and 31-year-old Christopher Michael Grant, both of Hyde Park, and charged them with Distribution of Class B Drugs.

A search of the motor vehicles also allowed officers to recover a loaded black Hi-Point .40 caliber firearm from the glove box of Capano’s vehicle. Capano will be additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and other related firearm charges.

This incident brings the total firearms recovered in 2015 to 113. Said Boston Police Commissioner William Evans, “I’m proud of the work all these officers do to remove illegal firearms from the neighborhoods. My DCU officers continue to take drugs and guns off the streets, but more importantly, they continue to make the Boston community a safer place to live.”
