Daily Dose of Great Police Work: BPD DCU Recover's Over $10,000 in Drug Money

At about 11:30 AM on Friday, March 6, 2015, members of the City Wide Drug Control Unit arrested four suspects in conjunction with a drug investigation in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road in District B-3 (Mattapan).

While patrolling this particular area known to officers for drug activity, members of the DCU observed the passengers of a vehicle showing behavior consistent with that of persons involved in the purchase and sale of illegal narcotics. As officers continued to survey the vehicle and the actions of the occupants, a second vehicle arrived. A female passenger in the first vehicle entered the backseat of the second vehicle, and both cars drove away. Officers continued to follow both car and soon observed the female passenger exit the second vehicle and return to the original car.

Officers believed a drug transaction had taken place and approached the first vehicle to conduct an inquiry. Officers observed drugs and paraphernalia in plain sight, and after further investigation, arrested the female passenger, 48-year-old Pamela Petrucci of East Walpole, for Possession of Class B Substance (Cocaine). The operator, 46-year-old Mark Leonard of South Boston, was summonsed to Dorchester District Court for Possession of Class B Substance (Cocaine) and Operating After Driver's License Suspended/Revoked.

Based on statements made by the suspects, officers were able to subsequently stop the second vehicle and place the operator, 33-year-old Carl Anderson of Mattapan, under arrest for Distribution of Class B Substance (Cocaine). A search of his vehicle and his person revealed several thousands of dollars and an amount of marijuana. Officers also arrested a passenger in the vehicle, 37-year-old Daimian Riley of Mattapan, for Distribution of Class B Substance (Cocaine) and Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Laws. Over $5000.00 in US currency was also found on Riley's person as well.
