2nd Annual Boston Police Foundation Gala Celebrates Boston’s Finest & Patriots Owner Robert Kraft: Last night, Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel, the Boston Police Foundation, with help from Fox 25 Maria Stephanos, who emceed the event, honored the brave men and women of the Boston Police Department for their ongoing efforts to protect and serve the citizens of Boston. Several awards were presented throughout the evening, among them the Officer of the Year, the Detective of the Year and the Boston Police Foundation’s Hero Award which is the honor presented to the officer/officers who display the highest levels of courage and calm in the face of the gravest levels of danger and disorder. This year, the Hero Award was presented to Officer Terry Cotton and Detective Harry Jean. In August of 2013, Cotton and Jean were shot in the line of duty after confronting an armed felon during a drug investigation. Fortunately, Cotton and Jean survived their injuries and were on hand to accept their award last evening.
In addition to honoring Boston’s Finest, the foundation also honored and recognized Patriots owner Robert Kraft for his steadfast support of the Boston Police Department. Said Kraft: “Our civil liberties and our way of life is protected because of the fine work of the Boston Police force.” And, of course, if Mr. Kraft is in the house, the Super Bowl Trophy and New England’s favorite QB can’t be far behind and, to the delight of all in attendance, that was certainly the case last evening as both the trophy and Tom Brady stopped by the event. To all of last night’s award winners, we say: “Thank you for your service and thank you for protecting and serving one of the greatest cities in America.”
Founded in 1993, the Boston Police Foundation solicits and uses private funds for the procurement of equipment and resources to help and support the men and women of the Boston Police Department.
