Making a Difference: Commissioner Kicks Off Challenger Swim Program

On Sunday, April 12, 2015, Boston Police Commissioner William Evans, Deputy Superintendent Nora Baston, and Special Events Supervisor Sergeant Gino Provenzano visited the Daniel Marr Clubhouse at the Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester to kick off the start of the season for the Challenger Division Swim Program. The Challenger Division is a swim program for children with disabilities and part of Project B.I.N.D. (Boston Inclusion Network for Disabilities). The Commissioner, Deputy, and Sergeant were on hand to watch these kids have a blast swimming, playing, and splashing in the water and then to hand out towels and backpacks provided by the Boston Police Athletics/Activities League (PAL). Although the Commissioner and the officers could not be persuaded into the pool, the kids made sure they caught a splash or two!
