BPD Photo of the Day: Seeing a Smiling Bill Richard at the Marathon Finish Line Made Us All Want to Smile with Him

BPD Photo of the Day: Seeing Bill Richard with a smile on his face at today’s Boston Marathon was – hands down – the best photo taken by anybody at 119th running of the Boston Marathon. Thanks to the Boston Globe’s Jessica Rinaldi for taking it. Tatyana McFadden, who won the women’s wheelchair division at today's Marathon, raced in memory of Martin and was even decked out in her Team MR8 jersey. After winning the race, she handed the gold wreath – the award presented to her for winning the marathon - to Martin’s dad, Bill. Talk about a classy and compassion-filled gesture. Said McFadden afterwards: "I'm always going to remember a win, but for them, having that wreath, I think it will bring something hopefully uplifting, and to look at that and say, we're okay.”
