One Less Gun: BPD Officers Recover Discarded Firearm Too Close to a Playground in Roxbury: At about 11:00AM, on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, officers from District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) recovered a loaded firearm which had been carelessly discarded near a playground opposite 435 Walnut Avenue in Roxbury.  The Smith & Wesson .41 Magnum revolver was discovered and recovered on the ground behind a tree by an adult who was supervising and watching over his kids who were utilizing the nearby playground. The gun was fully loaded and the hammer was cocked. The firearm was rendered safe and recovered by detectives. The Boston Police Department is grateful and appreciative that no one was injured by this deadly weapon and would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone, young and old alike, if you see a gun, don’t touch and call 9-1-1 immediately.
