Great Work Recognized: Boston Police Officer Honored at Red Sox and Celtics Games

This week Boston Police Officer Shana Cottone was recognized by both the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics for the outstanding actions and police work that she displayed on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. While leaving court downtown, off-duty Officer Cottone observed smoke billowing from a building at 1 Stillman Place in the North End. Without regard for her own safety and well-being, Officer Cottone ran into the burning building, began banging on apartment doors, and alerting residents to evacuate. Officer Cottone’s selfless actions undoubtedly saved lives that day, and for that the city is forever grateful.

Officer Cottone was honored atop the Red Sox dugout during the game’s 4th inning “Hats off to Heroes” on Friday, April 17, as well as on the Garden court at half-time during the Celtics’ play-off game against the Cavaliers on Thursday, April 23.
