Today, Monday, April 6, 2015, is Opening Day for the Boston Red Sox! Although the Sox are still on the road, the crew at Fenway Park is working hard to prepare America’s most beloved ballpark for their homecoming next week. In anticipation of the park’s seasonal opening, Boston Police Department Superintendent-in-Chief William Gross joined Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, Boston Red Sox President and CEO Larry Lucchino, members of the Boston Area Church League, the presidents of Florida A&M University and North Carolina Central University, and Wally the Green Monster to view the new renovations to Fenway Park.
The BPD looks forward to a packed season at Fenway. In addition to being home to the Sox and the Baseball Bean Pot, later this month the Florida A&M Rattlers and NC Central Eagles baseball teams will face off at Fenway Park as part of an effort by the Boston Red Sox organization to showcase HBCU (historically black colleges and universities) teams in the greater Boston area.
So grab your glove and bat and PLAY BALL!
