Well Deserved Tribute for Long Time Boston Marathoner Dick Hoyt

Well Deserved Tribute for Long Time Boston Marathoner Dick Hoyt: For the first time in over thirty years, the Boston Marathon will go on minus the participation of its most iconic and inspirational father-and-son running teams. For those who didn’t know, last year’s race was the final one for Dick Hoyt and his son, Rick. After competing in and completing a total of 32 Boston Marathons, Dick Hoyt says he was ready to call it a career. And today, the Boston Athletic Association honored him by naming him the Grand Marshal for this year’s race, the 119th running of the Boston Marathon. As for son, Rick, whose racing days aren’t over, keep your eyes open as he will be participating in this year’s marathon with new partner and Team Hoyt member Bryan Lyons. From all of us here at the Boston Police Department – we say to Dick Hoyt: “Thank you for not only making us proud but inspiring us all to be better mothers and fathers.”
