One Less Gun: BPD Officers Arrest Suspect Wanted for Armed Robbery in Dorchester

At about 1:25 AM on Friday, May 1, 2015, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) were on patrol when an individual flagged them down on Hancock Street and stated that he had just been robbed after withdrawing money from a Citizens Bank ATM located at 572 Columbia Road. According to the victim, the suspect (described as a light-skinned black male in his twenties wearing pajama pants and a dark hoody) approached him, showed a firearm and demanded money. A search of the area enabled officers to locate an individual who matched the description of the suspect. A pat frisk of the suspect for the presence of weapons enabled officers to locate a firearm in the suspect’s front waistband. Officers confiscated a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun.

Additionally, a search of the suspect enabled officers to find and confiscate undisclosed amounts of Class A (Heroin) and Class B (Cocaine) Drugs on his person.

Officers arrested Allen Lopez, 24, of Hyde Park and charged him with the following:  Armed Robbery, Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (gun), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A Drugs (Heroin), Possession With Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs (Cocaine).
