BPD In The Community: Boston Police Explorers Hit The Waves With The BPD Harbor Patrol Unit

On Friday May 8, 2015, the Boston Police Explorers checked out what it's like to be a Police Officer assigned to the Boston Police Harbor Patrol Unit. They went for a tour of Boston Harbor aboard the police boat "Guardian".  The Explorers engaged in meaningful dialogue with the officers assigned to the unit and learned about boating safety and other meaningful life skills.  Sergeant Sam Silta, who chaperoned the Explorers, offered: "The bonds we make with the community start with the conversations we're having with our young residents."

Special thanks to the BPD Harbor Unit Sergeant. Cheevers and Officers Will Knight and Davie Perez.  If you or a young person you know is interested in becoming a BPD Explorer, please contact Sergeant Silta by email at:  samil.silta@pd.boston.gov
