Boston Police Officers Arrest Suspect Outside Moakley Courthouse

Boston Police Officers Arrest Suspect Outside Moakley Courthouse: At about 1:12pm, on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, officers assigned to the Federal Protective Service and Boston Police Officers working outside the Moakley Courthouse observed a motor vehicle enter a restricted area without proper permission or consent. Specifically, officers observed the vehicle drive past a security check point and jump a curb in order to enter a restricted area. As a result, officers promptly stopped the vehicle. In speaking to the operator, officers learned the suspect had driven to the courthouse to express his opposition and dissent with the death penalty. A search of the vehicle enabled officers to see and take possession of what appeared to be a meat cleaver. At no point did the suspect use or threaten anyone with the weapon.

The operator of the car, Patrick Carrerio, 24, of Woburn, was arrested and charged with Failure to Stop for a Police Officer, Disorderly Conduct and the Unlawful Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (Meat Cleaver).
