Boston Police Relief Association Honors Fallen Officers At Memorial Day Service

On Sunday June 7, 2015, the Boston Police Relief Association held their annual Ecumenical Memorial Day Service at Mount Hope Cemetery in Mattapan to remember, honor and pay homage to the fifty-two officers who have passed away since May 2014.  Mayor Martin J. Walsh offered, “These officers will always be our heroes. We honor their dedication to public service. We honor their commitment to helping others and we honor their courage in facing danger.”  The Boston Police Department would like to pass along sincere condolences to the loved ones and families of the fallen and thank the hundreds of officers from all around the city who turned out to pray for their brothers and sisters – honoring their memories and dedicated service to the citizens of one of the finest cities in the country. Said one unnamed officer, "No doubt about it. Everybody remembered here today should be remembered as a hero."
