Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Quick Response Enables BPD Officers to Apprehend Suspect Wanted in Connection to Non-Fatal Shooting in Mattapan


At about 1:59pm, on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to an outside scene for a person shot in the area of 33 Fessenden Street in Mattapan. On arrival, officers located a male victim, believed to be in his twenties, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, suffering from non-life threatening injuries, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries. While on scene, officers were able to gather information that enabled them ascertain a description of the suspect. A search of the area enabled officers to locate an individual matching the description of the individual wanted in connection to the shooting. As officers approached the suspect, the suspect, upon seeing the officers, took off running. After a lengthy foot pursuit, officers were able to subdue and apprehend the suspect. A search of the suspect’s backpack enabled officers to locate a firearm.

Officers arrested Patrick Bishop, 22, of Boston and charged him with Assault with Intent to Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
