One Less Gun: BPD Officers Recover Firearm from Suspect in Roxbury

At about 5:35 PM on Friday July 10, 2015, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an onsite firearm arrest in the area of Dale and Rockland Streets.  The officers were on patrol in the area when they observed an unidentified male who appeared to be giving hand gestures to another male in an effort to alert him to the police presence.  Officers looked and saw that the unidentified male was signaling to a person known to them as Deavaughn Dardy, 20, of Boston.  Officers remained in the area, continuing to observe the known suspect, then approached him and quickly recovered a loaded firearm which he had discarded nearby.  The weapon was identified as a Kel Tec 9mm Ruger P11 Semi-Automatic Handgun.  The suspect was placed in custody without incident and will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number and Trespassing.
