Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Members of the Boston Police Harbor Unit Save the Life of Heart Attack Victim on Spectacle Island

Prompt Response Enables Members of the Boston Police Harbor Unit to Save the Life of Heart Attack Victim on Spectacle Island: At about 5:15pm, on Monday, July 20, 2015, officers assigned to the Boston Police Harbor Unit were on patrol in Boston Harbor when they received a call for help via the marine radio for a person in need of medical assistance, possibly having a heart attack, in the area of Spectacle Island. Upon hearing the call, officers immediately responded to Spectacle Island where, on arrival, they located a 54 year-old male complaining of heart pain. After loading the victim aboard their police boat, officers promptly notified Boston EMS to meet them at Berth 10 to aid and assist the victim. On arrival, officers were met by Boston EMS who quickly transported the victim to Tufts Medical Center where he was treated for cardiac arrest. Said one Boston EMS official: “Thanks to the BPD, that guy’s lucky to be alive. No doubt about it, their quick response saved his life.”
