One Less Gun: Firearm Recovered in Dorchester, Two Armed Career Criminals Arrested

At about 5:30 PM on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force conducted a motor vehicle stop that resulted in the arrest of two males for firearm related offenses in the area of 31 Robinson Street in District C-11 (Dorchester).

While on patrol, officers observed a male known to them operating a motor vehicle on Adams Street, Dorchester. Officers were aware that this male’s driver’s license was suspended and conducted a stop of the vehicle and its two occupants. As officers spoke with the occupants, the officers observed a box in plain view in the passenger compartment labeled “North American Arms.” Upon seeing the box and having knowledge of the occupants’ criminal histories, which prohibited them from lawfully possessing a firearm, the officers requested a K9 officer to assist. After the K9 indicated the presence of a firearm in the vehicle, officers were able to recover an unloaded North American Arms .22 caliber magnum firearm from an aftermarket compartment in the center console. Officers also observed that the vehicle was rented and neither of the occupants was an authorized operator.

The operator, a 24-year-old male from Dorchester, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle after License Suspended, Use of a Motor Vehicle without Authority, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Armed Career Criminal (Level 3).

The passenger, a 22-year-old from Mattapan, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd and Subsequent Offense), and Armed Career Criminal (Level 3).
