One Less Gun: YVSF Officers Recover Firearm during Traffic Stop

At about 6:53 PM on Monday, August 17, 2015, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force affected an onsite arrest for firearm related charges in the area of 57 Norwell Street in District B-3 (Mattapan).

Officers on patrol in the area of Washington and Columbia Streets observed a motor vehicle operating on the public way and randomly conducted a query of the registration. Officers observed that the inspection sticker was expired and made a stop of that motor vehicle. The officers were informed by the operator that his license to operate was revoked. At the same time, officers observed that the passenger was holding his hand in front of his waistband as if to conceal an item. Officers ordered the operator and passenger from the vehicle and conducted a pat frisk of both for officer safety. The pat frisk of the passenger revealed a loaded silver General Precision Corp. Model 20 revolver. The passenger could not produce a license to carry a firearm.

The operator, 26-year-old Dominic Gaylor of Dorchester, was arrested for Operating after License Suspended/Revoked and issued a citation for the inspection sticker infraction. The passenger, 21-year-old Dre Robinson-Gaylor of Dorchester, was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
