The BPD’s Newest, Wicked Cute K-9 Has a Name and it’s Viggo!!! Today, Friday, August 21, 2015, the Boston Police officially announced and unveiled the name of its newest, super cute K-9 and it’s Viggo. The BPD’s Head K-9 Trainer Officer Troy Caisey, Commissioner Evans and kids from the Jr. Police Academy formally unveiled our wicked cute puppy's name. Incredibly, over 20,000 suggestions poured in and we can’t thank people enough for all the great names. And – while the final decision was far from easy – today – our new dog has a new name and we’re proud to call him Viggo. Said Commissioner Evans: “I want thank the kids from the Jr. Police Academy for helping us reveal the name. We want thank everybody who sent in a name and I certainly want to thank the men and women of the BPD K-9 Unit for all the hard work they do to keep our city and our kids safe. And, like everybody else, I wish Viggo a long, healthy and happy career with the BPD and I look forward to monitoring his progress in the years to come.”
