Remembering a Hero - BPD Honor Officer Dennis Simmonds: During a moving and emotional ceremony at Boston Police Headquarters earlier today (9-17-15), the name of Boston Police Officer Dennis Simmonds was added to the department’s wall of honor, an honor extended to any officer killed in the line of duty. Dennis died as a result of injuries sustained during the pursuit of the Tsarnaev brothers in the days following the attack on our Boston Marathon. Said Commissioner Evans, “We will never forget Dennis. He was a great cop. And, his passion for policing and his legacy of professionalism lives on in all of us.” In adding his name to the wall of honor, Officer Simmonds becomes the 78th Boston Police Officer to be recognized for making the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving the people of our fine city.
