At about 6:02 PM on Saturday September 19, 2015, officers assigned to District E-5 (West Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a pedestrian struck at Roche Brothers Market located at 1800 Centre Street. Officers learned that a young girl had been struck by a motor vehicle while she was crossing the parking lot with her father. The child was transported to a local hospital to be treated for superficial injuries. The driver of the motor vehicle did stop and remained on scene to speak with officers. It is not clear if he will face any charges in relation to the incident. This morning, the BPD received the following letter of appreciation from the young girl’s father:
“I would like to thank the Boston Police officers from E-5 that responded to the Roche Brothers parking lot in West Roxbury. My daughter was struck and dragged several feet by an elderly man. I cannot say enough about these officers. They were there, literally, in seconds and were outstanding on a human and professional level. Keeping my daughter's spirits up and even getting her to smile a few times. It meant the world to me. Thank You!!!!”
Saturday September 19, 2015, was “National Thank a Police Officer Day” – so to that grateful father we say, thank you for thanking us and we wish your daughter a speedy recovery.
