Great Work Recognized: Officer Awarded Commissioner's Commendation After Firearm Arrest in Jamaica Plain

On Saturday, September 19th Officer Carlos Martinez, assigned to District E-13 (Jamaica Plain), was on patrol when he observed a male suspect firing a gun from a car he was operating in the area of Bragdon and Ernst Streets.  The suspect then fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

Officer Martinez followed the suspect vehicle and after a lengthy pursuit, the suspect was stopped by the officer with the assistance of additional units near the intersection of Elm Hill and Blue Hill Avenue.  During his attempt to elude capture, the suspect threw a gun and a pair of gloves out of his vehicle along the route, which were later recovered.

Officer Martinez’ dedication to his area of patrol, observations and response contributed to the arrest of the suspect.  For his efforts, Officer Martinez is hereby awarded a Commissioner’s Commendation.
