One Less Gun: Officers Arrest Three, Recover Two Firearms After Shots Fired Incident in Roxbury

At about 1:57 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2015, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made two onsite firearm arrests after shots were fired in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Gaston Street in District B-2 (Roxbury). Officers observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed which came to a sudden stop in front of 35 Gaston Street, at which time two male suspects who were known to officers, London Lee, 22, of Roxbury (operator) and Jerome Meade, 21, of Lynn (front passenger), exited the vehicle while a third known suspect, Jovane Santiago, 18, of Dorchester (rear passenger), remained in the vehicle.  The two suspects ran behind the house and then ran back to the vehicle and quickly sped away. Officers pursued the vehicle and were able to stop it on Sunderland Street off of Blue Hill Avenue a short time later. Officers searched the rear of the house the two suspects had gone behind where they recovered a loaded a Smith & Wesson .45 caliber handgun and a loaded Miruko .38 special revolver from inside a gas grill. 

All three suspects were placed in custody without incident and will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
