One Less Gun: Officers Arrest One, Recover Illegal Firearm

At about 4:30 PM on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, members of the City Wide Drug Control Unit made an on-site arrest of a suspect for firearm related offenses in the area of Lambert Avenue Playground in District B-2 (Roxbury).

As officers patrolled the area, they observed two males inside the playground who appeared to be passing an object between them. The two individuals displayed nervous behavior and appeared to be hypervigilant and alert to any vehicles in the area. As the two males began to depart, they were approached by another male who was known to officers. As officers encountered the group, the third individual immediately became very nervous and attempted to separate himself from the other two males. Because the male was displaying several characteristics of a person who may be armed, and due to the officers’ knowledge of the individual and the area, a pat frisk was performed. The frisk revealed that the male was carrying a loaded Taurus Ultralight .38 Special revolver in his pocket.

The 33-year-old male from Jamaica Plain was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd and Subsequent Offense).
