At about 10:20 AM on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) recovered a firearm and made an arrest after a brief motor vehicle pursuit which began near Washington and Saint James Streets.

Officers were attempting to stop a car they had observed commit a traffic infraction when it suddenly sped away from them. As the officers were following the vehicle, they observed a firearm being thrown out of the passenger side window in the area of 2899 Washington Street, causing the officers to stop their cruiser. One officer got out to remain with the discarded firearm while the other officer continued to pursue the fleeing vehicle. The officer followed the suspect vehicle until it crashed into another car in the area of 41 Dimock Street. There were no injuries as a result of the collision. The suspect, Rodolfo Ramirez, 41, of Boston, then jumped out of the car and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by the officer. The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Driving to Endanger.
