BPD In The Community: Commissioner Evans Visits with Students at the Perry School in South Boston

Earlier this week, Commissioner Evans was invited to address the students at the Oliver Hazard Perry School near his home in South Boston.  The commissioner took questions from the students and spoke to them about the importance of staying in school, working hard and achieving their goals.  The students sat in silence, eyes wide, as they listened to his sincere, unscripted and unflinching account of overcoming tragedy and adversity during his childhood in the neighborhood.   The students were appreciative of the visit, as one student was overheard saying, “I know he’s really busy keeping the city safe, so it was cool he had time to come to our school.”
