Keeping Boston Safe: Gang Unit Officers Execute Two Warrants in Roslindale, Arrest One, Recover Sawed Off Shotgun, Drugs and Cash

At about 4:03 PM on Thursday, January 28, 2016, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force executed an arrest warrant in the area of 127 Brown Avenue in District E-5 (West Roxbury). Officers were able to locate the target of their investigation, Dion Smith, 23, of Roslindale, who was wanted out of Attleboro District Court and place him in custody without incident. Officers then obtained and executed a search warrant for his apartment.  As a result of their search, officers were able to recover a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun, several rounds of ammunition, 30 grams of cocaine, a large amount of marijuana packaged for sale as well as $4,358 in U.S. Currency. The suspect will be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on charges of Possession of a Sawed Off Shotgun, Possession of a Sawed Off Shotgun with an Obliterated Serial Number, Trafficking Class B Drugs and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs.
