INCIDENT #1: At About 10:05 PM on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a shot spotter activation in the area of 117 Stanwood Street, Dorchester.

Upon canvassing the area for ballistics and suspicious activity, officers in the tactical unit observed a group standing around a parked vehicle near 43 Oldsfield Road. As the officers approached to inquire if the group saw anything, two males began to act nervous and attempted to walk away from the vehicle. Due to their actions and the nature of the call, officers pat frisked the individuals and the vehicle. As the officers frisked the vehicle, a female sitting in the vehicle began to cry and told the officers that the purse sitting on her lap was not hers. Due to her actions, officers frisked the purse and found a loaded Rossi M971 .357 Magnum revolver. The female was arrested and a more thorough search of her person revealed a loaded 9mm Walther P39 handgun in the female’s underwear.

Officers arrested 26-year-old Saleeta Cross from Fall River and charged her with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm.

Due to statements made by witnesses, officers also arrested 27-year-old David Cherry from Chelsea and 20-year-old Eumaani Springer from Dorchester and charged them each with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm. For Cherry, these charges are second and subsequent charges. Both Cherry and Springer also had active warrants for assault and battery. After a vehicle inventory search revealed two large jars of marijuana and a large sum of money, both Cherry and Springer were additionally charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs (Marijuana).

INCIDENT #2: At about 11:10 AM on Thursday, January 7, 2016, a detective from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to the sound of shots fired in the area of Kenwood and Washington Streets, Dorchester.

While on patrol in the above area, the detective observed two unknown males wearing black clothing run across Washington Street toward Kenwood Street, followed by a male wearing a white hoodie, light gray jacket, and gray knit cap. Moments later, the detective heard the sound of gunshots from the area of 25 Kenwood. The detective turned toward the sound of gunfire and observed one of the males wearing black clothing flee into the rear yard of 25 Kenwood. The detective and additional responding officers secured the scene and conducted a search of the area for the suspects. Officers recovered ballistic evidence as well as a black Smith & Wesson MMP 9mm semi-automatic firearm with a defaced serial number from the rear yard of 25 Kenwood.
