One Less Gun: Officers Arrest Four After Recovering Loaded Firearm From Suspect Vehicle in Connection to Shots Fired in Roxbury

At about 6:37 PM on Thursday October 13, 2016, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest after a traffic stop in connection to a shots fired call in the area of 151 Cabot Street in Roxbury.  During that incident, there were no victims located and no injuries reported.  While canvassing the area, the officers observed a vehicle which had fled the scene and stopped it in the area of 70 Camden Street.  As the officers approached the vehicle, they observed four occupants inside and could see that the rear seat passengers were attempting to conceal something under their seat.  The officers safely removed all four occupants, Christopher Moreta-Hernandez, 21, of Roxbury (operator), Odanis Brea, 18, of Roxbury (front seat passenger), Deondre Blanding, 19, of Roslindale (right rear passenger) and a 16 year old juvenile from Roxbury (left rear passenger).  The officers then performed a pat frisk of the vehicle which led to the recovery of a loaded black revolver under the rear seat.  All four suspects were placed in custody without incident and will appear in Roxbury District Court.  The juvenile suspect will be charged with Delinquent to Wit:  Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.  The three adult suspects will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.  Additionally, the operator (Moreta-Hernandez) will be charged with Using a Motor Vehicle without Authority.
