At about 12:33 PM on Wednesday October 19, 2016, officers assigned to the City Wide Drug Control Unit executed a search warrant as part of an active investigation in the area of 39 Cheney Street in Roxbury.  Officers were able to safely recover a loaded .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver, a .22 caliber Colt semi-automatic handgun, twenty bags of crack cocaine weighing eight grams, seven bags of marijuana and nearly $400 in cash.  It was later revealed that the revolver had been previously reported stolen in Brockton.  The officers then arrested the target of their investigation, Gerardo Cruz, 27, of Dorchester, placing him in custody without incident.  The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2 Counts), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B & D Drugs and Receiving Stolen Property.
