One Less Gun: BPD Officers Arrest Two and Recover Loaded Firearm After Fight in Dorchester

At about 8:47 PM on Thursday October 20, 2016, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person with a gun in the area of 97 Fuller Street.  Officers learned that a fight had broken out behind the address during which a male and female suspect assaulted and threatened the victim with a firearm.  During the altercation, the male suspect struck the victim on this side of his head with the firearm before leaving the area on foot.  Officers quickly located and stopped both suspects walking nearby and recovered a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson model 439 handgun from a holster in the waistband of his pants.  After being positively identified, both suspects were placed in custody without incident.  The victim was treated by EMS on scene but refused any further medical attention.  Anthony Suggs, 50, of Dorchester and Mercedes Wheeler, 40, of Lynn, were arraigned earlier today in Dorchester District Court.  Suggs has been charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Assault & Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon.  Wheeler has been charged with Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon.
