One Less Gun: BPD Officers Recover Loaded Firearm from Vehicle, Place Three in Custody After a Person Shot in Dorchester

At about 4:57 PM on Sunday October 2, 2016, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested three suspects on firearm related charges in the area of 43 Mount Bowdoin Terrace in Dorchester.  The officers were canvassing the area after an adult male victim had been located suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds in the area of Bowdoin Avenue and Eldon Street.  The officers observed and approached a suspicious vehicle and discovered that the rear seat passenger, Asha Toombs, 22, of Dorchester, was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for Larceny by Check (Over $250).  When officers removed the suspect to place her in custody, they performed a pat frisk of the vehicle which revealed a loaded .45 caliber Pistola Automatica handgun wedged in a seat back pocket.  At this time, both the operator, Marquise Rivera, 29, of Dorchester and the front seat passenger, Anthony Rivera, 27 of Dorchester, were removed from the vehicle and placed in custody without incident.  All three suspects will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.  It was not immediately clear if there was any connection between these arrests and the incident involving the victim who had been shot.
