ONE LESS GUN: BPD Officers Arrest Armed Suspect Outside Downtown Courthouse: At about 12:00pm, on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested an individual in possession of an illegal firearm in the area of One Congress Street in Boston. Officers had received information relative to an individual carrying a firearm outside the Boston Municipal Courthouse. Upon seeing the individual, officers promptly noted that the individual was walking in such a way as if to suggest he was in the possession of a firearm. Specifically, in keeping with the physical characteristics of a person carrying a firearm, officers noted that the individual was clutching on to an object in his waist area. In light of their observations, officers approached the individual and asked him if was in possession of any weapons. In response to the question, the suspect said nothing and began to slowly back away from the officers. At this point, officers attempted to frisk the suspect for the presence of a firearm. In response, the suspect began to violently resist and fight the officers. After a brief struggle, officers recovered a silver-colored firearm (SEE PHOTO) found inside the suspect’s right sweatshirt pocket. Officers arrested Mario Marques, 18, of Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way.
