Keeping Busy During the Bye Week: Two Great Organizations Come Together To Understand What Making a Difference in the Community Means

Keeping Busy During the Bye Week:  On Monday, October 31, 2016, while many were busy trick-or-treating and wearing their favorite Halloween costumes, three members of the New England Patriots and team owner Robert Kraft decided to get dressed up as members of one of the greatest police departments in America, albeit, just for one night.  Mr. Kraft, strong safety Devin McCourty, running back LeGarrett Blount and special team’s ace Matthew Slater stopped by to show their support for the department and to learn more about the challenges officers are facing locally during difficult times nationally.

Commissioner Evans greeted them in his conference room where they discussed football and community policing before heading out to the Teen Center at Saint Peter’s in Dorchester to check out a basketball game between BPD officers and kids from the neighborhood.  After the game, the honorary officers geared up for a ride-along with members of the Youth Violence Strike Force to get a firsthand look at the work that’s being done every day and night by the members of our department.

We appreciate them stopping by during their precious downtime, look forward to seeing them back in action next week and wish them luck in the second half of the regular season.  Go Patriots!
