BPD Officers Arrest Suspect Wanted in Connection to Break-In at the Shrine of St. Anthony: At about 9:19am, on Friday, November 25, 2016, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a call for a break-in at 100 Arch Street (Shrine of St. Anthony). On arrival, officers spoke to employees who stated that a suspect, described as a white male wearing a navy suit, light blue shirt, red tie with a black overcoat and dark-colored baseball cap, was seen on surveillance video breaking into the Shrine. Two days later, at about 9:55am, on Sunday, November 27, 2016, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) were on patrol in the area of when they observed an individual who matched the description of the suspect wanted in connection to the break-in two days prior at the Shrine of St. Anthony. Officers noted that the suspect was wearing the same clothing as those seen on the suspect in the surveillance video. After taking the suspect into custody, a search of the suspect enabled officers to locate and retrieve several religious items believed to have been taken during the break-in at the Shrine. Officers arrested Erik Swanson, 33, of Boston and charged him with Larceny Over $250.00, Vandalism and Breaking & Entering at Nighttime.
