Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Officers Come to the Aid of Off Duty BPD Detective After Breaking and Entering in Dorchester

At about 11:30 PM on Saturday December 17,2016, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to the area of 120 Pleasant Street to assist an off duty Boston Police Detective with an arrest of a breaking and entering suspect.  The detective confronted the suspect, who was later identified as Enrique Santos, 46, of Boston, after discovering him inside his personal vehicle, rummaging through his belongings.  The detective, a 13 year veteran of the department who is currently assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury), was able to remove the suspect and place him on the ground while calling 911 on his cellphone for assistance.  At this time, the suspect suddenly got up and took off running, entering the basement of a home in an attempt to allude the off duty detective who was now pursuing him.  Additional units quickly arrived on scene and were directed to the basement where the detective was holding the suspect at bay with the assistance of a witness.  The officers were able to take control the suspect and place him in custody after a brief but violent struggle.  When the officers asked the suspect if he lived at the address he informed them that he did not.  It was later revealed that the suspect was wanted on three outstanding warrants for past instances of larceny related charges.  The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on additional charges of Unarmed Breaking & Entering, Breaking & Entering of a Motor Vehicle, Trespassing and Resisting Arrest.
