At about 6:40 PM on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) made an onsite arrest for firearm related charges in the area of 80 Annunciation Road.
While on directed patrol of the above area, officers observed two individuals, 18-year-old Willie Barnes of Dorchester and 19-year-old Kalongie Bradley of Allston, inside a hallway of one of the Boston Housing Authority residential buildings. Officers were aware that these individuals were previously trespassed from all BHA property and were known for carrying firearms. When officers approached and attempted to pat frisk the backpack of Willie Barnes a violent struggle ensued, during which Bradley grabbed at the jackets and hands of the officers attempting to place Barnes into custody, physically interfering with the arrest. Eventually, Bradley took control of Barnes’ backpack and fled the scene on foot with one of the officers in pursuit. During the pursuit, an unidentified good Samaritan pushed Bradley into a bush causing him to fall briefly and lose control of the backpack. Bradley abandoned the backpack and continued to flee, only to be apprehended nearby by another responding officer. Inside the backpack, officers recovered a loaded silver Jennings T380 firearm.
Barnes was placed under arrest and charged with Trespassing, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (3rd Offense), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition (2nd Offense), Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm (3rd Offense), Armed Career Criminal Level I, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, and Resisting Arrest. During the booking process, Barnes spit on one of the officers, and a small plastic bag of a white powder substance believed to be cocaine was found in Barnes’ wallet. He was additionally charged with Possession of Class B Drugs.
Bradley was placed under arrest and charged with Trespassing, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd Offense), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition (2nd Offense), Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm (2nd Offense), Leaving a Firearm Unattended, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon on School Grounds, Resisting Arrest, and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer.
