At about 6:00 PM on Wednesday February 10, 2016, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a call for an armed robbery at the Pleasant View Variety Store located at 1 Savin Hill Avenue. On arrival, officers spoke with the store clerk who stated that he had been robbed by three masked suspects, one of whom was carrying a firearm. The victim stated that two of the suspects jumped behind the counter and demanded cash from the register. The suspects took an undetermined amount of cash and several cartons of cigarettes before fleeing the store on foot.
Utilizing multiple investigative tools and resources, detectives were able to determine that the suspects were hiding inside an apartment at 22 Roach Street and quickly set a perimeter. The Boston Police SWAT Team responded along with department negotiators who were able to convince the suspects to surrender after a considerable amount of time without further incident. Officers then executed a search warrant and were able to recover a loaded .45 caliber handgun, a large amount of cash, the cartons of cigarettes which had been taken from the store as well as several other key pieces of evidence. The three suspects, Jose Morales, 21, of Dorchester, Andronique Dossantos, 18, of Dorchester and Kallahn Winbush, 18, of Cambridge, will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Armed Robbery while Masked, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
