One Less Gun: Officers Recover Seven Illegal Firearms Overnight in Three Separate Incidents

INCIDENT #1: At about 5:15 PM on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person with a gun in the area of 27 Lyndhurst Street.

While en route to the above location, officers received a detailed description of the suspect pointing a black and silver firearm at another person. Upon arrival, officers observed a suspect fitting that description in front of 27 Lyndhurst. As officers approached, the suspect ran into the residence shutting the door behind him. Officers set up a perimeter and followed the suspect into the house. Officers on the perimeter observed the suspect flee through a side door where he was ultimately stopped and frisked due to the nature of the call. The owner of the residence led the officers along the route that the suspect took through the house and allowed officers to search the area. Officers recovered a loaded black and silver Ruger P345 .45 caliber firearm with obliterated serial numbers as a result of the search.

The suspect, 19-year-old Asa Nathaniel Saint Louis of Dorchester, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number, and (after pushing an officer during the booking process) Assault and Battery on a Police Officer.

Once on scene, officers were informed that two males had fired shots in the direction of four victims, then fled in a white Honda Civic. Officers at the scene recovered ballistic evidence.

Meanwhile, responding officers in the area observed the suspect vehicle and attempted to conduct a stop of the car several blocks away. As the vehicle pulled to a stop, the rear passenger exited the car clutching his waistband and fled on foot. Officers gave chase and during the pursuit observed the suspect discard an object in the area of 6 Brookvale Street. Officers were eventually able to place the suspect into custody. A canvas of the suspect’s flight path produced three discarded firearms in the area between 4 and 6 Brookvale Street. Officers recovered an unloaded black 9mm Glock 17 semi-automatic firearm with a high-capacity feeding device, an unloaded black and gray Ruger 9mm semi-automatic firearm, and a loaded black Beretta 9mm semi-automatic firearm with obliterated serial number. A search of the suspect revealed a bag and a box of additional ammunition.

The juvenile was also detained on two active felony warrants.
