Officers Recover Large Amount of Heroin After Stopping Known Suspect in Downtown Boston

At about 12:20 PM on Tuesday February 2, 2016, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown Boston) made a drug arrest near 28 State Street.  Officers were on directed patrol in the area in response to recent drug activity when they observed a known offender, Peter Marino, 30, of Boston, and approached to speak with him.  The suspect immediately became belligerent, yelling “Assault!  Assault!  Somebody tape this!  The cop is assaulting me!”  The suspect then attempted to run away from the officers while clutching an unknown package wrapped in tin foil.  Officers stopped the suspect and discovered 105 bags of heroin weighing a total of 88 grams inside the tin foil wrapped in a large plastic bag.  The suspect was then placed in custody after a brief struggle.  Officers later recovered $330 U.S. Currency and a brass knuckle style knife from the suspect’s back pack.  The suspect will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of Trafficking Class A Drugs, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest and Unlawfully Carrying a Dangerous Weapon.
